How Long will it take to sell my wedding gown??

This can depend on a few things like the age of the gown, the style, is it more traditional, is it a different colour and of course the price!

We have successfully sold many gowns on our web site ranging from 2 weeks to 12 months.

Gowns that are priced right and are generally not that old will sell faster, but think back to when you were looking for your dream wedding gown, think about how long it took you to make your final decision, was it the price, or the style??

Can I sell my dress - is it sellable??

From our experience generally the wedding gowns over 5 years are harder to sell. This is mainly due to the change of trends and styles. There also some gowns that just don't age, or that take alot longer to age than others. Don't forget if you are unsure about anything please email us for advise on advertising@bridaltradingplace.com.au

How much should I sell my wedding dress for?

From our experience we do recommend approximately half of your original price that you paid. Gowns that are too over priced will not receive many enquiries and will take longer to sell. However it is totally up to you how much you advertise your gown for, don't forget you can change your price, your description and photos at anytime at NO extra cost.

If you are unsure about how much to sell your gown for please feel free to contact us.

Wouldn't you rather sell your wedding gown and enjoy to giving the joy and happiness to another bride for her to feel as absolutely as beautiful as you did on your wedding day???

Can I advertise my other wedding accessories in the same advertisement as my gown?

Yes you can advertise your wedding gown and wedding accessories in the one advertisement.

How much does it cost to advertise my wedding gown??

3 MONTHS - $35 - Recommended for gowns that are modern & priced very affordable.

6 MONTHS - $55 - Recommended for wedding gowns that are responsibly priced & are approximately up to 1 year old.

12 MONTHS - $85 - Recommended for gowns that are highly priced OR are a few years old.

A wedding gown maybe a few years old it still may be in fashion with current styles, wedding gowns tend to stay modern for a few years with styles and designs. If you require any assistance with any part of your advertisement please email us at advertising@bridaltradingplace.com.au

Will my dress be harder to sell because it is older???

Generally gowns that are over the age of 5 years will be harder to sell simply because of styles changing. There are however many gowns which stay in style for years and don't age much at all. If your gown is older, has a different design or colour it may take a bit longer to sell.... but it can be a good thing as well!!!

Should I be dry cleaning my gown before I sell it???

Generally it is a good idea to have your gown dry cleaned before you sell it. However when you having potentail brides to be to try on your gown, please make sure that you ask them to wear minimum make up before trying on the gown to avoid any make up stains.

Photograph suggestions for your advertisement

We recommend that you should consider using the following photos for your Wedding Gown Advertisement
Full front view of gown, Back view of gown, close up of bodice, any area that has detailed work, side view showing your train and veil- please make sure that you leave any face removing or blurring to us!!

Are there any hidden Fees or Charges after I have sold my gown???

No!!!

The only cost that is involved is your advertising fee!

We believe that our method of advertising is very affordable and very effective!! We charge a once off advertising fee, there are no on going fees like advertising in newspapers, there are no high fees for consignment where often they give you only a small percentage of the sale price of your Wedding Gown.

Can I change my photographs, price or description at anytime??

Yes!!

At anytime whilst your Wedding Gown or item is being advertised on our web site you can change your photos, price or description at anytime at NO extra cost. All you need to do is simply email or phone us your changes.

If you would rather not place your contact details on the web site, please email us at advertising@bridaltradingplace.com.au we can receive email enquiries on your behalf and then forward the enquiries onto you.

Do I need to have my faced blotted out in my photos??

No this is a personal choice. We do however recommend that you if you are wanting your face blotted out in your photos that you leave the blotting out to us, please don't send us photos of your wedding gown with your head chopped off. Adding your face to your photos with your faced blotted out helps potential buyers to see what the gown looks like with your veil or even hair style, again making sure the prospective buyer gets a better idea of what they could look like in your gown, so please let us do the editing for you.

I don't have access to a computer at home??

No problem at all, simply phone us on (02) 4577 3226 and we can send you a booking form and information pack, OR simply complete the booking form online, print it off and post it back to us with your payment and photos, we will scan your photos for you, once have scanned the photos we will post your them back to you, there is NO charge of scanning your photos!!

So how much do I need to charge for postage if posting my gown to the buyer??

There are two options you can use, australia post or a courier company, both will charge approximately the same price, for further details contact your local courier company for a quotation or alternatively contact australia post or go their web site www.austpost.com.au make sure you don't forget to make enquiries about insurance. Who pays for the postage, usually this cost should be charged to the buyer. In general the cost is approximately $45 from Australia post, this includes the box, the postage and insurance.

How will the buyer pay you???

It is wise to never give anyone your wedding gown until you have received the full payment. Payments should only be accepted in Australian Money Orders or Bank Cheques, cash or payment can be paid by a direct deposit into your account. Always make sure you get the sellers full details, which would include, their address, their full name, their phone numbers and even their driver's licence number, just to be sure. Always make sure you wait for cheques to clear before handing over your gown. It is entirely up to you which method of payment you accept, most people prefer to us the direct deposit either by using a branch or internet banking. When making your sale always make sure you write a receipt with both your details and the buyers details on the receipt, again just to be safe.
